Southeast Alaska is defined by the waters, islands, resources and people of the Inside Passage. Juneau is the state capital and largest city in the region, which includes 35 communities with just over 73,500 people, about a fifth of whom are Indigenous Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. Tourism, mining and fisheries are the major industries.

Outreach includes programs in agriculture and horticulture; health, home and family development; nutrition and integrated pest management.

Calling all 6th- to 12th-graders in the Juneau area!
Join local architects for two days of design in a free camp. Students will learn about the architecture profession and go through the process of designing a conceptual project.

If you have a homemade food business, would like to start one, or might sell someone&/ces/districts/juneau/39;s homemade foods through your farmstand or market, knowledge of Alaska&/ces/districts/juneau/39;s homemade food rules will help ensure you&/ces/districts/juneau/39;re in compliance.

In addition, having a food safety mindset on the farm and in the packing area will help you identify on-farm food safety strategies for your market produce.

In this free class, Sarah Lewis, ÈÕº«ÎÞÂë Cooperative Extension agent, will explain the Alaska Homemade Food rules and introduce some basic produce safety practices for produce growers and farmers.

Location: Sitka Public Library, 320 Harbor Drive.

She will cover preserving your fish catch through canning, smoking or freezing.
