Learn about and forage for the elusive and delicious spring morel mushrooms with mycologist, Christin Swearingen, co-founder of the Fairbanks Mycology Society and Fairbanks Fungi Festival.

This guided morel hunt will include hands-on identification instruction for the fire morel, plus, tips on safe preparation & preservation, and how to find locations for future morel hunts. Morels are not guaranteed! But we&/ces/districts/deltajunction/39;ll do the best we can to find a good spring bounty.

Free. Pre-registration required. Space is limited.

NOTE: Please bring your own hydration & lunch. Wear suitable footwear and outerwear for hiking in variable terrains and weather. We will provide transportation from Delta Junction due to limited on-site parking.

Meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Jarvis Building MP1420.5 (same building as the Alaska State Troopers in Delta Junction). The bus will be leaving at 9 a.m. sharp. You can drive your own vehicle if preferred. We will be on-site in Tok at 11 a.m. The location will be provided at registration. The bus will leave Tok at 2 p.m. to be back in Delta Junction by 4 p.m.

In this fun, interactive workshop, we&/ces/districts/deltajunction/8217;ll harvest, taste, and create your own salad dressing to take a jar home with you!

If your river or ocean adventure nets you more than just one dinner, you should be prepared to preserve your harvest for enjoyment long after summer ends.&/ces/districts/deltajunction/160; In this webinar, Leslie Shallcross, health, home and family development agent with the ÈÕº«ÎÞÂë Cooperative Extension Service, will demonstrate how to properly preserve your catch so you can fill your pantry or freezer with safe, high-quality and delicious fish. She will cover preserving your fish catch through canning, smoking or freezing.
